HUB SOCCER OCTOBER 2007 FRIDAY FOLDER NEWSLETTER

Also available as a PDF

By the time you get this Friday folder newsletter the fall soccer season will be winding down. This fall season had 680 PreK through 8th grade children playing recreation soccer & 166 travel soccer players. Both venues would not be possible without the support of our generous sponsors & the 141 people who stepped up to coach & train players.

Late October is the time we kick off registration for the Winter-Indoor Session. We have offered an indoor soccer venue for over 15 years & it has historically been well attended & popular. Indoor soccer offers an organized sport activity for children not old enough to play other sports. It provides those players who enjoy soccer the opportunity to play after the fall season ends. It provides continued training for our travel teams to prepare for the spring season. It provides physical fitness during a time of year when the weather & short days limit outside activities. Our Winter-Indoor Session also includes “no cost” value added features: 2 clinics run by the MKHS coaches & players, plus professional goalie training for all players & coaches.

Registration - The registration form for the 2008 Winter-Indoor Session is on the back side of the newsletter. If you need more registration forms they are available @ www.hubsoccer.org.

School Grade Winter 2008 – So we can place your child in the correct age group, please make sure you put their correct school grade on the form. If your child is not yet in elementary school, put in PreK for their grade. Leaving this section blank will delay your child’s registration. Not putting in the correct grade results in your child being placed in a younger or older age group.

Eligible Grades – PreK to 4th grade.

Cost Before 1/4/08 - $50 for 1 player, $90 for 2 players & a $100 family maximum. Any family not able to afford the registration fee can call HUB Soccer’s president Don Casse (627-8173) or any board member to have their registration fee waived. Your request will be handled confidentially.

Cost After 1/4/08 - $75 per player, $125 family maximum. We are charging higher registration fees for late registrants. You can avoid a higher registration cost by registering BEFORE 1/4/08. Any forms post marked 1/5/08 & after that do not have the higher fee will be returned & not processed. We are providing you with ample time to get your registration form in.

Mail To – Registration forms should be mailed to HUB Soccer, PO Box 1048, Denville, NJ 07834. Please do not drop off @ Denville Recreation. Denville Rec is not HUB Soccer of Denville, Inc. We are an independent non profit sports organization.

More Info - Session runs Sunday afternoons @ Morris Knolls HS. Exact start time for each age group is TBD until we know how many players are in each grade, but session runs from 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM.
Recreation session runs for 6 weeks. Target starting date is 1/13/08.

Travel Teams – Travel coaches will let players know what days & times are available for practice.

Communications – If you are on our broadcast email list you already received this information! Please consider joining our broadcast email list to keep informed. Go to www.hubsoccer.org to join. Putting your email address on the registration form is for your division director &/or coach to communicate with you. We do not automatically put you on the broadcast email list without your permission.

HUB SOCCER FRIDAY FOLDER NEWSLETTER – MAY 2007

- PDF version available

HUB SOCCER PARENTS - Although spring soccer is in progress when you get this newsletter, May is the time when we begin planning for the fall season. With an anticipated fall enrollment of 800+ recreation players, it is critical that we start now. Planning ahead ensures that we have enough shirts, socks, shorts & equipment for all participants. Most importantly, planning ahead ensures that all kids play. Please carefully read the following information & register on time. This will help all of us have a successful fall season. Regards, Don Casse, President, HUB Soccer of Denville, Inc.

REGISTER ON TIME: Parents registering their children before or by the registration deadline of
6-22-07 will avoid a $10 late fee. If you register late & your child’s division is full, they will be placed on a hold list & only play if someone drops out. You can avoid this by registering on time. This spring we had to turn away 10 PreK players because they did not register on time. If they registered by the deadline, we could have created an additional team for them.

COSTS: $45 for your first child, $45 for the second & a family maximum of $100 for 3 or more. Any registration forms with a post mark after 6/22 will require a late fee of $10. Any family experiencing a financial hardship can contact Don Casse, President (973-627-8173) or any other board member to have your child play at no cost. Your request will be handled confidentially. This applies to both recreation & travel players.

ELIGIBLE GRADES & AGES:

School Grade - We need your child’s FALL 2007 SCHOOL GRADE written at the top of the registration form in the space provided! 5% of our spring registrants left this field blank or put in the wrong grade. For Challenger participants we need their age. Not having the school grade will delay your registration; an incorrect grade will have your child placed in the wrong division.

Challenger Division – the Challenger Division is for special needs children ages 5 to 15.
There is a separate registration form for the Challenger Division. Participants must be age 5 as of 9/1/07. Challengers play Saturday afternoons. Please do not use the Challenger form to register for the recreation program.

Recreation Program – PreK through 8th graders participate in the coed recreation program. PreK players must be age 4 as of 9/1/07 (No Exceptions!).

OTHER INFO:

A registration form is printed on the back of this newsletter. Challenger registration forms are being provided to schools concurrently. Additional forms are available at our web site www.hubsoccer.org

The fall recreation program consists of Saturday games & week night (6:00 PM start) practices. Divisions 3 & 4 also play night games. Please do not call or email us regarding what day your child will practice or the time of their games. This information is not available until after teams are formed, coaches identified & division directors make up schedules. We target mid August to let parents know what team their child is on & who their coach is. Games start 9/1 & Picture Day is 9/8.

HUB Soccer’s web site www.hubsoccer.org has the name, phone # & email address of all board members should you need additional information.

All players get a fall uniform consisting of a HUB Soccer t-shirt, soccer shorts & socks.
